Services sector provides hope this month
I get a bit fed up with the short term measurement thing that the media seems obsessed with. The Purchasing Managers Index 'jumped' from 59.1 in July to 60.5 in August which, apparently, confounded forecasts of a small retreat.

Small movements over short periods of time are utterly meaningless. One day of rain in a month of 20 working days might be accountable. Even so, you still get headlines like 'Services Sector Gives Hope'.

The only possible use of all of this is work for forecasters.
