Popularity Of Team Building Events On The Increase

Signs of economic recovery have been spotted in an unexpected place: team building events!

Though some may rely on statistics or politicians to judge the state of the economy, there is a more unusual gauge for Britain’s economic health: the popularity of the team building event. This is logical if you consider it for a moment. When the economy is strong, companies look to the future in order to expand, develop and best meet demand. What better way to bring a team together than through a tailored team building event? The Scottish boss of one team building company has reported a 25 percent increase in bookings over the last four years, suggesting that the economy is indeed growing and businesses are increasingly confident about the future.

If you are considering organising a team building event for your company, then Zing offer a wide range of options that promise focus, efficiency and fun. Here are just four possible options you could consider.

The Crystal Maze

Many will remember popular TV show The Crystal Maze, with its cryptic puzzles, crystal dome and golden tickets. Almost everyone who watched wished to have a go themselves – well now’s your chance! This team building event reconstructs the iconic game show for teams of any size, promising fun and excitement as teams work against the clock to gather as many prize crystals as possible. At the end comes the final challenge in an inflatable crystal dome. Teams will come together, thinking tactically to solve problems – and having a lot of fun in the process!

Boomwhackers is a great choice for a corporate ice-breaker, or if you want a fun activity to break up a conference or long dinner. But just what are they? Boomwhackers are zany tubes that make music when played with others. Your teams will be directed in an ‘orchestra’ of boomwhackers and challenged to co-ordinate themselves in order to make music. Various rounds of the game incorporate video and audio challenges, making this a fun and interactive game that will get people working and laughing together.

Choc Box Challenge

Lovers of The Apprentice will appreciate this one! In this challenge, teams are asked to create a new brand of chocolates, deciding on flavours using ingredients from a special chocolate shop. They’ll have to think about everything from a business plan to branding and marketing – even making a TV commercial! At the end of the challenge they will have to pitch their proposal to a ‘business tycoon’, and only one team will be declared winner. This is a fun (and tasty!) way to get teams thinking strategically about marketing.

Factor X

One of the most popular team building events! Based on a certain popular TV show, this challenge involves teams perfecting a musical routine to perform for judges. They’ll have to learn their words, chose their costumes and perfect their moves (with a choreographer from the actual show!) ‘Dermott’ will be on hand when it’s show time, and only one team can be crowned winners! This is a fun way to get your team working together and losing their inhibitions.
